The Watercraft Inspector serves to inform and educate the public to the threats of ecologically harmful aquatic invasive species to area waters. Inspectors work at public water access sites educating the public by providing information to watercraft users and conducting a brief survey while inspecting watercraft for invasive species. All inspectors hired this season will receive Level 1 DNR Watercraft Inspector training.



Duties:

Educate the public on invasive species program and issues

Distribute written information to watercraft users

Inspect watercraft for invasive species

Conduct a verbal survey

Document and record watercraft inspection activities

Conscientious inspection recording and uploading of data

Educating is a MUST. We have a purpose!



Program Structure:

Watercraft Inspectors will be assigned to a specific lake or group of lakes. Personal transportation to the access is required. (You may request a Lake or group of Lakes; assignments based on availability.)

Requirements:

Must pass a criminal background check

Must have valid Driver’s License

Must be 18 years old or older

Excellent verbal communication skills

Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to customer service

Ability to coordinate multiple tasks

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Willingness to work flexible hours and in adverse weather conditions

Demonstrated interest in environmental work

Ability to be assertive in order to uphold the standard of training for Level 1 Inspector

Mandatory Paid Training

Most work is on WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS from May through September/October 2024
