Location: Various public access sites throughout Northern St. Louis County, Minnesota, including Bear Island Lake, Birch Lake, Burntside Lake, Crane Lake, Ely Lake, Gilbert-Pit, Johnson Lake, One Pine Lake, Pelican Lake, Shagawa Lake, Vermilion Lake, Fall Lake, Farm Lake, Kawishiwi River, Moose Lake, Snowbank Lake, Tofte Lake, and White Iron Lake, McCarthy Beach.

Areas include: Babbitt, Cook, Orr, Side Lake, Virginia, Gilbert, Ely, Tower

Pay: Starting at $16/hr

About the Role:
We are seeking motivated individuals to join our team as AIS Watercraft Inspectors for the 2024 boating season. In this crucial role, you will be the frontline in protecting Minnesota's waters from ecologically harmful invasive species by educating the public and conducting thorough inspections of watercraft.

Job Functions:

Educating the public on AIS prevention and control
Distributing informational materials to watercraft users
Inspecting watercraft and conducting electronic surveys for invasive species
Providing exceptional customer service
Operating independently with minimal supervision
Maintaining strong communication with team members
Level 2 Inspectors will also operate decontamination units following MNDNR protocols.

Qualifications:

Minimum 18 years of age
Proficient with tablet devices for digital information entry
Availability to work weekends, holidays, and weekdays between 5 AM – 8 PM
Valid Class D Driver’s License and reliable transportation

Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit, stand, walk, squat, bend, and lift heavy objects (20% of the time for Level 2 Inspectors)
Work outside in various weather conditions and around moving equipment

Hours & Wages:
Seasonal employment from May through September/October
Flexible scheduling with 20-40 hours per week available
Work includes weekends and holidays (Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day)
Level 1 inspector - $16.00/hr
Level 2 inspector - $16.50/hr
