**Note: These are common questions our staff receives and their responses in regards to MN Unemployment. Please refer to your specific state’s website for further information or assistance.
How do I apply for Unemployment benefits?
You can apply for unemployment insurance benefits either online @ www.uimn.org or by phone using the self-service system.
Call one of the following phone numbers:
Twin Cities area: 651-296-3644
Greater Minnesota: 1-877-898-9090
TTY (for the hearing impaired): 1-866-814-1252
Can I apply for Unemployment if I wasn’t laid off but stopped working for other reasons?
If you are unemployed for any reason other than lack of work, state law requires Unemployment to follow a specific process to determine if you are eligible for benefits.
During the application, Unemployment will ask questions about why you are unemployed. They will also ask your employer the same questions. The applicant and employer’s answers are then reviewed to determine if you are eligible for benefits.
It is important that you provide detailed information about the way your employment ended.
Will Always There Staffing apply for Unemployment benefits for me?
No. The Unemployment Insurance Program is administered by the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED). DEED provides free assistance to all applicants and employers who have questions about unemployment insurance.
You should never pay a third party to help you apply for or request unemployment benefits. You should also be careful when reading information on social media, which may not always be accurate.
Who do I list as my employer?
When applying for benefits, remember that Always There Staffing was your employer during your assignment- not the client company.
